The band started their career as a blues group under the name of The Edgar Broughton Blues Band, playing to a small following in the region around their hometown of Warwick. Led by the Broughton brothers, vocalist/guitarist Edgar Broughton and drummer Steve Broughton, and fleshed out by bassist Arthur Grant and guitarist Victor Unitt (who also briefly served with The Pretty Things), they were contemporaries of Groundhogs, Hawkwind, and The Pink Fairies, but were unique within the movement due to their radical political consciousness (which is highly pertinent).

one knows of coming home he speaks, thus: 'Woman of mine, you see the sea rolling, endlessly See and look and you shall see but many years have passed us by Have we learned but one thing in our lives? Away, away, away Cold the winds blow (Edgar growls to the end). I'd like to say a few words on behalf of the band (repeated over and over). Dawn Crept Away" Track Info. The Edgar Broughton Band were one of the most consistent artists on the Harvest label, from their bombastic debut Wasa Wasa right through to their fabulous and criminally overlooked masterpiece Oora. Whilst they never enjoyed that much success - compared with label mates Deep Purple, Pink Floyd or even BJH - they were always one of the best (the best was of course Roy Harper by a million miles).
