Break Up is a collaborative album between Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson. The first single, "Relator" was released as a digital download on May 25, 2009. The full album was released by Atco and Rhino on September 15, 2009. The record was certified platinum in France. The album was recorded in 2006, thus preceding several albums that Yorn and Johansson have released as solo artists. Johansson completed her vocals for the project in two afternoon sessions.
The Break-Up Album is narrated by Andi Arndt (Jane’s POV) and Shane East (Matthew’s POV) with Andi doing the majority of the narration because the story is told mostly through Jane’s POV. There are a few times within the same chapter both narrators voice the back and forth worth dialogue. Their voices work well together and they do a good job of bringing Jane and Matthew’s story to life.
Girl I know I know you bought me the watch You ain't get it back though My name's on the back though I flipped the lock to the back door And took the key under the mat though I know you hate that But you did some things that you cannot take back I needed change Left a nickel. Please never call me Do not mention me in any stories Do not show up at the homie's party Come up to me and then say I'm sorry You're just a You just a - hold up let me stop The Henny shots got the petty talk comin I don't wanna have them thoughts running Can't believe.
Break-up albums have been a staple in the music landscape, with these 21st century auteurs having some of the most soul-drenching of personal stories that reach something deeply humanistic: the loss of a loved one. This loss, whether through death or separation, is one that Tyler, the Creator has clearly been dealing with lately, which he chronicles sonically in his new album, IGOR.
Although in September 1969 John Lennon privately informed the other Beatles that he was leaving the group, there was no public acknowledgement of the break-up until Paul McCartney announced on 10 April 1970 he was leaving the Beatles
The Break Up". Girl, I know-I know you bought me the watch You ain't get it back though My name on the back though I flipped the lock to the back door And took the key under the mat though. I wish I could say I loved you Or that I cared (right, right) Or that I'd even give a damn if you were here But you're gone, so it's fuck you I'm a player I am everything that you wanted but you're scared. Please never call me Do not mention me in any stories Do not show up at the homies' party Come up to me and then say "I'm sorry" You're just a-you just a- Hold up let me stop The Henny shots got the petty talk coming I don't wanna have them thoughts running Can't believe that I bust.
Narrated by Shane East. But then again, I can't technically complain-I have a Grammy, a hit album, and a job most people would be envious of-I'm a rockstar. What I haven't had in years is a hot date. The dating drought isn't because I'm a single mom. It's because I have a little itty-bitty issue with trust because of how my marriage imploded. Matthew is determined to break down my walls, and it sure doesn't hurt that he's British, witty, and far too tempting. He's also the toughest music journalist out there, and he's interviewing me for an in-depth article.
