Systematic Chaos is the ninth studio album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater. Released on June 4, 2007 in the United Kingdom and June 5, 2007 in the United States, Systematic Chaos was the band's first release through Roadrunner Records, which was sold to their previous label Atlantic Records, through which the band had released their previous studio album Octavarium (2005).
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos (2007).
Dream Theater's 2007 studio LP "Systematic Chaos" is an impressive offering to say the least for a band of this magnitude. Long known for its cerebral approach to music, DT seems either content with their elevated status of masters of progressive metal or no longer willing to cram a thousand notes into one composition for the sake of sonic chest beating. Forsaken" best illustrates both points
The American band's inclination to wander off into noodling holds the band back, and the twenty minutes where they impress is not enough to save it. The name Dream Theater has come to be symbolic of many different elements over the years. Expressive lyrical imagery. The combination of both heaviness and progressive tendencies. They're the shining beacon of prog metal, according to some, and seemingly destined to go down in heavy metal lore.
Systematic Chaos (CD, Album).
was the ninth album by Dream Theater, released by Roadrunner Records on June 5, 2007. It is notable for being the first album on the Roadrunner Records label by Dream Theater. It is also notable for being the first (and thus far only) album released that contain recordings of fans for certain shouting parts. It was also the first album to break into the Billboard top 20. Personnel. The album was recorded from September 2006 till February 2007 at Avatar Studios in New York City, after the first summer break the band had enjoyed in ten years with no festival dates. Notably, in interviews before the album release, Mike Portnoy stated that the chemistry in the band was the best it had ever been. They hired Paul Northfield to engineer the album. Northfield had previously worked with bands such as Rush and Queensrÿche, both important inspirations to Dream Theater.
And on their tenth full-length overall (and first for their new label, Roadrunner), 2007's Systematic Chaos, the quintet sticks to the prog metal game plan that they've followed since their inception. In true Dream Theater fashion, the gentlemen are not ashamed to show off their chops - as evidenced by the album opener, "In the Presence of Enemies, Pt. 1," in which James LaBrie's vocals do not kick in until after the five-minute mark.
