Lee Eugene Michaels (born Michael Olsen, November 24, 1945, Los Angeles, California) is an American rock musician who sings and accompanies himself on organ, piano, or guitar. He is best known for his powerful soulful voice and his energetic virtuosity on the Hammond organ, peaking in 1971 with his Top 10 pop hit single, "Do You Know What I Mean".

Lee Michaels is the third album by Lee Michaels and was released in 1969. It reached on the Billboard Top LPs chart. The album was recorded live in studio with only Michaels playing the organ and bass pedals and Barry "Frosty" Smith on drums. The first side (tracks 1-5) consists of a medley of songs. The song "My Friends" was originally featured on his first album, Carnival of Life and was re-released on this album.

Between 1968 and 1972, Michaels cut seven albums for A&M Records that represented his best and best-known work, and Heighty Hi: The Best of Lee Michaels collects 20 tunes from this period. of Michaels' keyboards.

Heighty Hi. Do You Know What I Mean. If I Lose You. The War. Goodbye Goodbye. Keep the Circle Turning. Murder in My Heart (For the Judge). Sounding the Sleeping. No Part of It. Own Special Way. Love.

Michaels was also a man of many moods as a songwriter, willing to go from prog-anticipating psychedelia and longhaired blues to blue-eyed soul and straightforward hard rock at the snap of a finger. Michaels' cross-genre shape-shifting may be why the man didn't achieve lasting stardom, despite scoring a number six single with 1971's "Do You Know What I Mean" - he was a tough man to pigeonhole, though he earned a loyal following through touring and underground FM radio play
