The Lonnie Plaxico Group - Live At Jazz Standard download mp3 album

Lonnie Plaxico (born September 4, 1960) is an American jazz double bassist. Plaxico was born in Chicago, Illinois, into a musical family, and started playing the bass at the age of twelve, turning professional at fourteen (playing both double bass and bass guitar). His first recording was with his family's band, and by the time he was twenty he had moved to New York City, where he had stints playing with Chet Baker, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Stitt, Junior Cook, and Hank Jones.
Bassist Lonnie Plaxico is perhaps best known for his associations with Greg Osby and M-Base, and for being the long-time bassist for Cassandra Wilson. He was the leader of several recordings made for the now static Muse label in the '80s and '90s. On January 29, 2003, Plaxico was leading an energetically funky sextet at New York City's Jazz Standard. The pieces populating this live disc are closer to Plaxico's Art Blakey experience than to his M-Base involvement

The Lonnie Plaxico Group. Track listing: Genre: Jazz. Content: Stereo/Multichannel. The band is playing highly energetic contemporary jazz with complex structures and sophisticated soloing and two wonderful ballads as well (Dedicated to you, You don& know what love is). I know Plaxico and Marcus Strickland but the other musicians I don&.But one should bear them in mind because these are great musicians each. The piano, the drums, the (muted) trumpet – wow! The sound is good, rich of colour, good soundstage and imaging, dynamic; the bass should be a bit more precise.

The spirit & association of Bu is big, very.

Live at Jazz Standard Hybrid SACD, Original recording remastered, SACD, Import. Live at the 501 club was a smoking (if poorly recorded0 date, this one's even hotter. Great compostions and reworkings of classics (wonderful take on Sidewinder). Along with Jason Moran And the Bandwagon, this is a clearer direction for the future of Jazz than Bad Plus, Diana Krall and Soulive. Terrific solos and ensemble playing.
