Brain Salad Surgery is the fourth studio album by English progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released on 19 November 1973 by their own record label, Manticore Records, and distributed by Atlantic Records. Following the tour in support of the last album, Trilogy (1972), the group acquired rehearsal facilities to work on new material, which would blend classical and rock themes.

Fyodor from Denver, CoI think the line, "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends" will be the one thing that outlasts all other memories of this band! Do y'all know that that line, which kicks off "Part 2" of Karn Evil 9 1st Impression, appeared at the start of side 2 of the LP? No way to truly reproduce the original desired effect on CD, except maybe to divide the record into 2 very short discs, I guess. Also, the lyrics shown at the time I write this are only some of the lyrics for Karn Evil 9 1st Impression

Karn Evil 9" is an extended work by progressive rock group Emerson, Lake & Palmer, appearing on the album Brain Salad Surgery. A futuristic fusion of rock and classical themes, it is regarded by some to be their best work together with the song "Tarkus". At nearly half an hour long, it is also their longest studio recording. Karn Evil 9" was written by Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, and former King Crimson lyricist Peter Sinfield. The phrase "Karn Evil" is an oronym on the word "carnival".

Flashback: Emerson, Lake and Palmer Play ‘Karn Evil 9’ at Final Concert. Group reunited in 2010 to headline London’s Voltage Festival, which was both their first show in 12 years and their final concert ever. Drummer Carl Palmer found tremendous success in the early 1980s with Asia, so when Keith Emerson and Greg Lake wanted to reunite they brought in drummer Cozy Powell, a move that allowed them to continue billing themselves as ELP. The new lineup was short-lived, and by 1992 the original ELP reformed to record Black Moon and launch a tour heavy on the oldies. Old tensions soon resurfaced and group split after recording just one more album, 1994’s In The Hot Seat.

Текст песни Emerson & Lake & Palmer – "Karn Evil 9". Cold and misty morning, I heard a warning borne in the air, About an age of power where no one had an hour to spare . Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends We're so glad you could attend, come inside, come inside There behind a glass stands a real blade of grass Be careful as you pass, move along, move along Come inside, the show's about to start Guaranteed to blow your head apart Rest assured you'll get your money's worth. Greatest show in Heaven, Hell or Earth You've got to see the show, it's a dynamo You've got to see the show, it's rock and roll, oh Right before your eyes we pull laughter from the skies And he laughs until he cries, then he dies, then.
