The Best of the Early Years Volume One. Label: Westbound. Music For Your Mother: Funkadelic 45s. Format: Compact disc. The Best of Funkadelic: 1976-1981.

Confrontational Passionate Provocative. Better than the previous Westbound compilation, The Best of the Early Years, Vol. 1 collects one track from each of the first two Funkadelic albums, two from Maggot Brain and America Eats Its Young, three from Cosmic Slop and one selection from Let's Take It to the Stage. By properly focusing on the best tracks from the best albums, Westbound chronicled Funkadelic's early career quite well; still, the best place to hear these tracks are on their original albums.

This Funkadelic discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Funkadelic albums can be found at the top of the list. Funkadelic is known to many as one of the best funk bands of all time. This Funkadelic discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Funkadelic albums can be found at the top of the list. To make it easy for you, we haven't included Funkadelic singles, EPs, or compilations, so everything you see here should only be studio albums.

In 1977, Westbound released The Best of the Early Years while Funkadelic recorded what became its masterpiece (and arguably the best P-Funk release ever), 1978's One Nation Under a Groove. The album, which reflected a growing consistency in styles between Parliament and Funkadelic, became the first Funkadelic LP to reach platinum (the same year that Parliament's Funkentelechy vs. the Placebo Syndrome did the same). In 1979, Funkadelic's "(Not Just) Knee Deep" hit number one as well, and its album (Uncle Jam Wants You) reached gold status. At just the point that Funkadelic appeared to be at the top of their powers, the band began to unravel. As is sometimes the case, commercial success began to dissolve several old friendships.

10 best Parliament and Funkadelic albums. Here’s a countdown of the 10 best psychedelic funk records featuring Parliment and Funkadelic. The title track of Funkadelic’s second album is a 10-minute noise-gospel statement of purpose, setting the tone for all that follows with a psychedelic mantra of Free Your Mind and your ass will follow, to which the backing vocals helpfully respond with, The kingdom of heaven is within. And this is all while Eddie Hazel’s fuzz-guitar leads are tearing it up while drifting from one echo-laden speaker to the other in a total mindmelt.

Relive some of the best of Funkadelic reimagined by the best funk artists of Detroit. Every single album of Rock Candy Funk Party ends up somewhere on our best lists and their new album The Groove Cubed is no different. The supergroup never fails to deliver as they have put together yet another barn burner. The second volume of the infamous Big Ol’ Nasty Getdown has been a very long time coming. The brainchild of John Heintz has been a true labor of love. About 17 years ago, a horn section graced the now legendary funk album Keb Darge presents The New Mastersounds. They were the backbone for Eddie Roberts’ project just as much as Maceo, Pee Wee and Fred Wesley were for James Brown. They helped establish that Afrobeat-soul-funk vibe that now has a life of its own in London.

From Funkadelic to Parliament and back again, climb in the mothership and navigate the ultimate c records to own on vinyl. From their early experiments to hitting the big time, here is the essential introduction to a movement that became known as P-Funk. Funkadelic Maggot Brain (Westbound Records, 1971). They slowed the beat down ’til it was sludge, turned up the feedback and let Clinton freewheel with some of his finest lyrical couplets
