Hurley is the eighth studio album by American rock band Weezer, released on September 10, 2010 by Epitaph Records. The album was produced by Rivers Cuomo and Shawn Everett, and, similar to their previous album Raditude, features songs co-written with songwriters outside of the band. Preceded by the single "Memories", Hurley debuted at number six on the US Billboard 200, with over 45,000 units sold in its first week of sales.

This song was the closer on your newest album, and it had to be absolutely perfect. Which, of course, is why everyone physically cringed when you belted out an unsettling note, ruining that clip completely. Groaning and rubbing your hands over your face tiredly, people pat your back and gave you pity grins, walking back to their stations to get ready for another take. Things could only go up from there. In My Blood stopped playing in your earbuds as soon as you arrived at the building, your nerves running wild.

Hurley - named after Jorge Garcia’s beloved Lost character for no particular reason, but anybody with three eponymous albums in an eight-LP career doesn’t care much for titles in the first place - is marginally louder and rougher than the clean sheen of Raditude, but not enough to fool anybody into thinking this is a punk rebirth.

Hurley proves that Rivers still has some gas left in the tank. At the same time it was announced that Weezer were jumping ship from the major label home that they had been residing at since their explosion on to the alternative rock landscape with the Blue Album in favor of the punk mega-indie label Epitaph records, Rivers also let it be known that his creative impetus for Hurley was 1960's pop music. Unfortunately some of the eccentric, tongue and cheek bullshit that bogged down every Weezer CD starting with Make Believe still rears its ugly head now and again with the cringe inducing cacophony of Where's My Sex and the bland repetition of Smart Girls, making Hurley not quite a total return to form, but a solid step back in the right direction. With Weezer's career in the oughts having been one of the longest running jokes in the music industry, it's Weezer that end up getting the last laugh with Hurley.
