This article contains a listing of Dean Martin's original singles, LPs, and compilations from his career. Martin recorded his first single, "Which Way Did My Heart Go", "All of Me", for the small Diamond Records in July 1946.

With his fourth album, Seven Swans, Stevens did what few artists outside country music are willing to do and wore his Christianity on his sleeve. The album explores stories from the Bible, as well as Stevens’ more personal relationship with his faith – though he’s coy about the subject in interviews: I feel like I’m doing a disservice to myself, and to my convictions, in speaking publicly about these things, because they’re too easily misconstrued. Recorded over six years and originally given as gifts to friends and family, the set sandwiched faithful renditions of songs such as Joy to the World between Did I Make You Cry on Christmas?

Love exists, and love is broken. Countless pop artists have exploited the fleeting nature of their personal relationships, writing cloying love songs today and fiery breakup anthems tomorrow. What we rarely hear about in pop music are songs about the loneliness that comes in a world where love never lasts. In the second act, Manelich comes to the slow realization that love is different from what he had thought. Marta remains cold and unfeeling toward him, and she refuses to welcome him to their marital bed. He spends his nights sitting outside her door wondering what has gone wrong. Manelich’s heart beats with this same desire, and he finishes Act III by slaying Sebastian, the wolf who has been preying on Marta, and absconding with his bride to the mountains. Marta is a woman who has been taught by years of cold and harsh abuse that love does not exist.

Throughout this song (and the entire album) there are references to places and events in Oregon, the state where Sufjan Stevens estranged mother lived during Sufjan’s childhood. The instrumentation and production is sparse, featuring two harp-like guitars with an occasional addition of piano. The lyrics illustrate the loneliness and loss felt by Stevens after the death of his mother. However, the pain is not concentrated on the death itself, but instead on their lack of relationship during the time she was alive
