Songs of Freedom is a four-disc box set containing music by Bob Marley and the Wailers, from Marley's first song "Judge Not", recorded in 1961, to a live version of "Redemption Song", recorded in 1980 at his last concert. The song "Iron Lion Zion" was first released on this compilation, in what is often considered the original mix (although the original is said to not have included the harmony vocals from the I-Threes)
Sweet Freedom" is a song by Michael McDonald, and his last Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single's music video featured McDonald, along with actors Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines, in the film Running Scared. In addition to being featured on Running Scared's soundtrack, the song was featured on the 1986 re-release of McDonald's 1985 album No Lookin' Back. Lead vocals – Michael McDonald. Backing vocals – Michael McDonald and Siedah Garrett. Guitars – Paul Jackson, Jr. and Michael Thompson.
Time-Life Music's The Folk Years: Simple Song of Freedom is the concluding album in a four-volume set that surveys the 1960s folk revival in a manner typical of the Time-Life approach to compilations generally. That is to say that the selections consist mostly of hit singles; of the 30 tracks spread across two discs here, 20 were singles that made the Billboard Hot 100 between 1959 and 1970, and 14 were Top 40 hits. That's a smaller percentage than was the case on the first three volumes in the series, but several of the tracks here that were not.
Album's title: The Song Of Freedom, Congossa. A. The Song Of Freedom.
When Songs of Freedom was released originally in 1992, it was a perfect complement to either a greatest hits collection like Legend or the entire collection of the reggae master's albums. Songs boasts enough of the recognizable from Marley's canon to address the hit seeker, but the set also reaches way, way back to include Marley's first single, the youthful "Judge Not" from 1962, and then closes more than four hours later with a 1980 live take of "Redemption Song" from his last concert.
Come & sing a Simple Song of Freedom' - Dedicated to peace in the world and to the ones who gave their lives so i. .
