Judy Holliday was an actress, not a singer, but she recorded two albums of songs in 1958 and 1960. Her voice is just OK, so the stronger pieces on this offering are the ones where her sincerity wins out or she gets to show off her ability as a comedian while joined by an orchestra arranged by Glenn Osser. Fans of the actress will find this CD of interest, but most other listeners can safely pass this by.
TROUBLE IS A MAN came during a very interesting period in Judy Holliday's career. Although she had never considered herself an especially gifted singer, Holliday's splash on Broadway in "Bells Are Ringing" (crafted by her dear friends Betty Comden and Adolph Green) won her the coveted Tony Award in 1956 and re-ignited her flailing acting career in the process . A special treat is herrendition of "An Occasional Man" whichdelights in many regards! This album will be a wonderfultreat for the many fans who are stillloyal to the memory and talent of thelate, great Judy Holliday.

Trouble Man is a soundtrack and the twelfth studio album by American soul singer Marvin Gaye, released on December 8, 1972, on Motown-subsidiary label Tamla Records. As the soundtrack to the 1972 Blaxploitation film of the same name, the Trouble Man soundtrack was a more contemporary move for Gaye, following his politically charged album What's Going On. This was the first album to be written and produced solely by Gaye.

More than a half-century after the tragic death of Oscar- and Tony-winning movie and Broadway star Judy Holliday, the high-definition Blu-ray release of her final film, Bells Are Ringing, has come just in time. Holliday also made two solo albums, Trouble is a Man in 1958 and Holliday With Mulligan, recorded in 1961 but not released by the saxophonist until 1980. She and Gerry had a musical relationship.
