Crashin From Passion. Audio CD, February 20, 1996. Crashin' From Passion. 3. Hangin' Out In Hollywood. 4. You Make Me Feel So Good. This 1979 album by Mrs. Nasty Funk is a mixed bag, but overall a very interesting weird funk album. The album was not released at the time it was recorded. It was recorded in 1979, but as far as I know it was not released until the 90s. Betty Davis is a bizarre sounding, nasty singer, funky as hell. The music on this Cd sounds sometimes a little dated, which may be caused by the time it was recorded( "Crashin' from Passion" has many disco influenced tunes on it).

this record came out in '79 and yet no vinyl release is listed on discogs? specifically I think She's a Woman was released on 12" at one point. Hunee plays this off a vinyl I believe. Any help appreciated thanks

I just stumbled across this release, so I did a bit of digging... She went into the studio one final time in 1979 (with Herbie Hancock, Alphonse Mouzon, and Martha Reeves no less), but eventually gave up on the sessions and never made music again. From her wiki: "Material from the 1979 recording sessions was eventually used for two bootleg albums, Crashin' from Passion (1995) and Hangin' Out in Hollywood (1996)."Here's the link to "Hangin' Out In Hollywood", if anyone is interested: It appears to have the same songs, but in a different order. Her sound follows the natural evolution of "Is This Love Or Desire" and "Nasty Gal," pushing into straightforward disco-funk territory, and surprisingly, she sounds completely uninspired and burnt out. It's hard to fathom how she fell off so quickly, but in a way, her label's refusal to release the material gifted her one hell of a legacy/cult following for her earlier work. The late 70's/early 80's was rough on everyone I suppose :) One stand-out track for me is "Tell Me A Few Things," which honestly sounds NOTHING like her prior work, and NOTHING like the rest of the album: late-70's generic disco-funk is your thing, take a listen. Otherwise, I recommend sticking with her three official masterpieces.
