Ramblin' Man" is a song by American rock band The Allman Brothers Band, released in August 1973 as the lead single from the group's fourth studio album, Brothers and Sisters (1973). Written and sung by guitarist Dickey Betts, the song was inspired by a 1951 song of the same name by Hank Williams

The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Macon, Georgia, in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman (founder, slide guitar and lead guitar) and Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards, songwriting), as well as Dickey Betts (lead guitar, vocals, songwriting), Berry Oakley (bass guitar), Butch Trucks (drums), and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson (drums). The band incorporated elements of blues, jazz, and country music, and their live shows featured jam band-style improvisation and instrumentals.

Melissa is a song by American rock band the Allman Brothers Band, released in August 1972 as the second single from the group’s third studio album, Eat a Peach. The song was written by vocalist Gregg Allman long before the founding of the group. It was first written in 1967, and two demo versions from those years exists, including a version cut by the 31st of February, a band that featured Butch Trucks, the Allman Brothers' later drummer. Allman sold the publishing rights later that year, but they were reacquired by manager Phil Walden in 1972

Top 10 Allman Brothers Band Songs. Brothers and Sisters was the first album the Allman Brothers Band recorded after Duane's death, and it's a transitional record as much as it is a traditional one. It was the group's most mainstream-sounding album at the time, which paid off: Brothers and Sisters is their only No. 1 LP. Betts has more of a presence on the album, including this playful instrumental he named after his daughter. It's a tight performance, which, of course, would gain even more momentum in concert. From: 'The Allman Brothers Band' (1969). Ramblin' Man" definitely stakes out its territory, combining down-home twang, a radio-friendly hook and a killer guitar solo that drives it all home.
