I have several Don Williams collections, but the other day I was watching a Porter Wagoner show off my satellite DVR with Don's first appearance on the show in 1974. When he started singing "Atta Way to Go", I just nearly fell over, recalling my time as a teen when I became a Don Williams fan. Then I wondered why I hadn't heard it for so long, and looked on my CDs - it wasn't there. So I pulled out the vinyl LP I bought when I was 16 and played both sides again.

This was the first single package highlighting the outlaw hits of Hank Williams, Jr. These are the tunes that metamorphosed Hank Jr. from being "the singing son of a country legend" to becoming a legend in his own right. All of the early-'80s hits are here: "Family Tradition," "Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound," "Women I've Never Had," "Texas Women," "Dixie on My Mind," "A Country Boy Can Survive," and "All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)

It is notable in that it marks the first appearance of "Jackson", Cash's famous duet with his future wife, June Carter. Howard Andrew Williams (born December 3, 1927 in Wall Lake, Iowa, died September 26, 2012), known as Andy Williams, is an American pop singer. He first performed in a children's choir at his local Presbyterian church. Williams and his three older brothers Bob, Dick, and Don, formed a quartet, the Williams Brothers, in the late 1930s. The brothers performed on radio in the Midwest, first at WHO in Des Moines, Iowa, and later at WLS in Chicago and WLW in Cincinnati. Williams graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati.
