Harmonium debuted outside the top 20 on the US Billboard 200, and sales fell considerably short of those of Carlton's debut album, Be Not Nobody (2002).
White Houses' was overplayed way too much over the radio. 1 of 1 users found this helpful. 10. This would have to be the best album I have heard in a long time!
On her second album Harmonium, singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton enlists her boyfriend, Stephan Jenkins - best-known as the frontman of the popular post-grunge band Third Eye Blind - as a producer and co-songwriter, and his presence doesn't so much alter Carlton's music as give it a sharper, direct focus. Carlton and Jenkins focus on the lush, dramatic teenage angst that made "A Thousand Miles" a big hit in 2002, using that song as the template for a collection of songs that are intimate on a grand scale

White Houses (Vanessa Carlton song). White Houses" is a song written by American singer Vanessa Carlton and Stephan Jenkins (lead singer of Third Eye Blind), and recorded for Vanessa Carlton's second album Harmonium (2004). Produced by Jenkins, it was released as the album's first single in 2004.
Vanessa Carlton is one of the few artists today who can sell modestly well without the help of a hit single. She released Harmonium in 2004 to almost no airplay (for the single "White Houses") and huge fan support. The album has sold around 200,000 copies, which would be a huge deal for any indie label. The album starts off with the only single, "White Houses" (4/5)
