The first Simple Minds album, Life in a Day, was produced by John Leckie and released by Arista in April 1979. The album's title track "Life in a Day" was released as Simple Minds' first single and reached No. 62 in the UK Gallup charts, with the album reaching No. 30 in the LP charts. The next single ("Chelsea Girl") failed to chart. On 11 November 2016, Simple Minds released Acoustic which was recorded with the new line-up during Summer 2016 and which featured acoustic re-recordings of songs spanning their career. Big Music is the sixteenth studio album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds. It was released on 31 October 2014 by Sony Music. Honest Town" was released as the lead single on 10 October 2014. During the recording of Simple Minds previous studio album Graffiti Soul, Jim Kerr stated: We really are flowing with ideas at the moment and I do feel that we are possibly writing two albums simultaneously at present.
Celebration is a compilation album by Simple Minds, released in 1982. The compilation features tracks from the band's tenure on the Arista Records label prior to their move to Virgin Records in 1981. One of the tracks, "Kaleidoscope", was exclusive to this CD and LP until it appeared on the X5 box set many years later.
