I loved the Honda XL and SL Enduro bikes when I was a kid. I was really obsessed. I bought a Honda SL100 and tore it apart to make a dirt bike. I always loved the simple shape of the single cylinder with the overhead cam. After going to a bunch of One Shows in Portland, I decided to build a small Honda almost like the one I had as a kid. This time I would challenge myself to make it into a functional street bike and do some major modifications. The bikes I was looking to for inspiration were bobbers, board trackers and those British and German utilitarian motorcycles from the 50s and 60s

It's totally tubular to the max! Those waves are tubular dude. A Val girl (only the ones who tried really hard to be cool would say something like: "It's totally tubular y'know?" Do you know this was really not hip in the less than fortunate parts of the Valley? Mainly this lingo was on fire in late 1981 - 1983 in parts of the Valley closest to Ventura Blvd and especially South of the Blvd. in places like Encino, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Hidden Hills, with Agoura, Westlake, . to the west eating it up too, the affluent parts of the Valley - pre-90210 kids. If it weren't for so many Vals saying, like tubular that other people associated it with Valspeak, people wouldn't have become afraid to continue saying tubular when Valspeak went out of style.
