Kompendium - Beneath The Waves download mp3 album
Beneath The Waves" features a guest list of Prog Rocks most respected musicians including Steve Hackett, Gavin Harrison, and Mel Collins. The album is a dark Celtic fairytale set in Ireland at the turn of the 20th century and is about a man whose wife commits suicide, only for them to be reunited in death. Steve Balsamo, recently with Jon Lord's band, takes on lead vocals. The album is housed in a laminated gatefold sleeve with full colour inners, bringing Geoff Taylor's specially commissioned artwork to life.
The effort was worth it. Even though 2012 has turned out to be a banner year for progressive rock, the Kompendium project stands out. Magenta itself was created in 1999 to bring back the nostalgia of the original prog rock with its meandering risk taking and superior musicianship. Kompendium pushes the envelope further. At the core, Beneath the Waves spins a dark romantic sea-tale seemingly based on an early 20th century news item: Connor McGregor is a man broken with grief
Beneath The Waves: Elements offers a new look at the concept album, presenting over two hours of music including unreleased songs, demos and alternate takes, plus a fully-instrumental mix of the original work. Reed tells Prog: It took over 3 years to make the album, which meant the songs went through some pretty drastic musical transformations. Some were even dropped from the finished album due to time constraints. Elements showcases those tracks for the first time, alongside material that shows the development and musical building blocks of the original album

Kompendium biography KOMPENDIUM is the title of a (probably) one-off project masterminded by ROBERT REED, the founder and keyboard player of Welsh Neo-Prog band MAGENTA, and whose recent abiding dream has been to release an album on a scale comparable with that of Jeff WAYNE's 1978 Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds but combined with the intensity. Fulfilling the dream, which culminated in the release of an October 2012 concept album called Beneath The Waves, has been a massive undertaking for Rob, who has overseen every aspect of the project's development - from writing and performing right through to the final delivery to its intended audience - a musical journey which has taken nearly four years to complete.
