The only studio meeting between Stan Getz and Bill Evans took place over two days in 1964, with the aggressive drummer Elvin Jones and either Richard Davis or Ron Carter on bass. It is peculiar that Verve shelved the results for over a decade before issuing any of the music, though it may have been felt that Getz and Evans hadn't had enough time to achieve the desired chemistry, though there are memorable moments.

Gerry Mulligan Meets Stan Getz (also released as Getz Meets Mulligan in Hi-Fi) is an album by American jazz saxophonists Gerry Mulligan and Stan Getz featuring performances recorded in 1957 released on the Verve label. Let's Fall in Love" (Harold Arlen, Ted Koehler) - 6:25. Anything Goes" (Cole Porter) - 3:35. Too Close for Comfort" (Jerry Bock, Larry Holofcener, George David Weiss) - 6:54. That Old Feeling" (Sammy Fain, Lew Brown) - 5:55.

The real change here is in Wes' playing – as it's shifted from the mellower. LP, Vinyl record album. An overlooked gem from the Verve bossa years – a session that features the sweet tenor sax work of Stan Getz, alongside some swinging bossa arrangements from the great Gary McFarland!

One of the releases in the Vital Vinyl series. I can't remember if they pressed it at RTI or QRP but regardless this pressing is fantastic. Very quiet, and the music is uniformly amazing. Mastering is well done as well.
