I could see it was a rough-cut Tuesday Slow-motion weekdays stare me down Her lipstick reflex got me wound There were no defects to be found Snapshot image froze without a sound. Thursday morning was a hot flash-factor Her face still focused in my mind Test-strip proof-sheet love is hard to find Friday night we'll dance the spotlight grind Stop-time heart for me if she's not mine. CHORUS: Freeze-Frame! (Freeze-Frame!) (REPEAT TWICE) Freeze-Frame! Now Freeze!

The J. Geils Band released 'Freeze-Frame' in October 1981. After 10 years and 11 albums, the J. Geils Band nudged into the pop mainstream with 1980's Love Stinks - but that was just the warm-up for their next, and biggest, album. Released on Oct. 26, 1981, Freeze-Frame found the band further embracing the New Wave pop makeover they'd started with Love Stinks, making more room for synths and adding another layer of gloss to the production.

Freeze Frame" became their biggest hit yet arriving just at the right time as MTV took off. The music is slightly different from their R&B tinged Rock 'n' Roll with more New Wave flourishes in the keyboard work of Seth Johnson (who wrote or co-wrote every track on the album and produced it). The album sounds surprisingly undated even with these New Wave flourishes as the songwriting is amazingly strong throughout and continues to focus on dysfunctional romances that are at the heart of most of their songs.
