Artur Schnabel’s Mozart is every bit as individual as Gould’s Beethoven but infinitely more subtle, the pathos-filled Rondo in A minor, K511, providing a fine example of Schnabel’s immaculate sense of musical timing. The same Naxos CD also includes the Concertos K595 (under Barbirolli) and K365 (with Karl Ulrich Schnabel, under Boult). The transfers are excellent. Rob Cowan – Gramophone magazine – November 2008.

The Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor, K. 491, is a concerto composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for keyboard (usually a piano or fortepiano) and orchestra. Mozart composed the concerto in the winter of 1785–1786, finishing it on 24 March 1786, three weeks after completing his Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major. As he intended to perform the work himself, Mozart did not write out the soloist's part in full. The premiere was in early April 1786 at the Burgtheater in Vienna

The popularity Mozart had enjoyed with the Viennese public as a performer would henceforth start to decline, the C minor Concerto the penultimate of the great series of piano concertos composed for his concerts between 1784 and 1786. One of only two concertos composed by Mozart in a minor key, it is a work that reflects the increasing density and complexity of Mozart's music, the development of a style that already perplexed many of his contemporaries. What, for example, must they have made of the stormy, Beethovenian drama of the opening Allegro, or the chromatic intensity that pervades.

Piano Sonatas - Volume No. IV 31 In A Flat Major, Op. 110: I. Moderato Cantabile Molto Espressivo. Mozart - Piano Concertos. Artur Schnabel (April 17, 1882 – August 15, 1951) was a composer and also a pianist and teacher. His compositions were, in Ernst Krenek's words, "of remarkable and unusual significance. Schnabel was renowned for his seriousness as a musician, avoiding anything resembling pure technical bravura. He was said to have tended to disregard his own technical limitations in pursuit of his musical ideals.
