Pump Up the Jam (also known as Pump Up the Jam: The Album in North America) is the debut studio album by Belgian dance act Technotronic. It was released on 28 November 1989. When it was discovered that model Felly lip-synched to vocals that were actually performed by Belgian emcee Ya Kid K, the album's artwork, which had featured a picture of Felly, was changed to feature Ya Kid K instead. The album reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart.

Pump Up the Jam" is the opening track on Belgian act Technotronic's album Pump Up the Jam: The Album. Released as a single, it was a worldwide hit, reaching number two in the United Kingdom in 1989 and in the American Billboard Hot 100 in early 1990. The song was later certified triple platinum. It also peaked at number 1 in Belgium, Iceland, Portugal and Spain.

Pump up the jam Pump it up While your feet are stomping And the jam is pumping Look ahead, the crowd is jumpin' Pump it up a little more Get the party goin' on the dance floor See, cause that's where the party's at And you'd find out if you do that. Pump Up the Jam peaked at in the UK in late 1989, then also reached in the US in early 1990. Once the song had achieved international success, the group released a full album that listed Kamosi as the actual performer.

Pump Up the Jam," "Get Up (Before the Night Is Over)," "This Beat Is Technotronic," and other highly infectious club hits didn't do much in the rap or R&B markets, although Technotronic did enjoy some exposure outside of dance music circles thanks to the inclusion of "Move This" (also included here) in a 1992 Revlon commercial employing supermodel Cindy. But on the whole, this collection appealed primarily to Technotronic's target audience: dancers and club hounds.

A very well known music band from Belgium which scored several succesfull tracks in the early 90's. Their first album is quite dark with pumping bass melodies and powerful vocals. It's the pinacle of the early techno sound. A quite decent album with only one problem -if someone can consider such-, the continuous use of the same sounds played in different tones. This ends with the majority of the songs being somehow clones but imo it's not necessarily bad. The songs have an identity and nobody can mistaken them. You should definitely give it a try. It's a gem.
