Bug a Boo" is a song by American girl group Destiny's Child. It was written by band members Beyoncé Knowles, LeToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson and Kelly Rowland along with Kandi Burruss and Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs for their second album The Writing's on the Wall (1999), featuring production by the latter. The song uses interpolations of the 1978 song "Child's Anthem" by Toto.

Bug-a-Booo ("Turma do Penadinho") is a Brazilian comic strip, created in 1963 and part of the Monica's Gang series. All of the characters are monsters or other supernatural creatures, none of them being a human being. The main location for their stories is a cemetery. However, their stories are not intended to be scary, actually they are sometimes classified as Terrir, which is a Portmanteau of the Portuguese words "Terror" (horror) and "Rir" (to laugh).

A bug-a-boo is a pest, someone who won't leave you alone. It can be about a man or a woman. This was written by Kandi Burruss, who also wrote "Bills, Bills, Bills" for Destiny's Child and "No Scrubs" for TLC. She was a member of the group Xscape. When this was released, it popularized yet another term for an undesirable man. Between Destiny's Child and TLC, the terms "Scrub," "Buster," and "Bug A Boo" all came to describe these unfortunate guys. Many of the references will make little sense to modern listeners.

Although the majority of the album is firmly situated in the sprawling, noisy metallic fusion of hard rock and avant noise, Bug also demonstrates that J Mascis has a talent for winding folk-rock, particularly on "The Post" and "Pond Song. Like its predecessor, the songs on Bug are quite uneven, but it does represent a major step forward for Mascis, particularly on the masterpiece of the record, "Freak Scene," a surprisingly catchy song encapsulating the appeal and pitfalls of indie rock within three minutes.
