No Falkenbach album would be complete without a mood-setting introduction, complete with falling rain, crackling thunder and chirping birds. Although this has pretty much become the norm in the folk/viking metal community, a look at Vakyas’s vast catalogue pretty much solidifies him as one of the originators of such techniques (aside from the legendary Quorthon (RIP) of Bathory, notably one of Vakyas’s biggest influences). All in all, Tiurida is a good album and the obvious next step from his previous release. He's done so well that it's difficult to see how he could improve.
Track listing (Songs). Falkenbach is really good at one thing and one thing only: Viking Metal. For years they've put out works of amazing quality. Falkenbach Discography.
Since the previous album, Heralding – The Fireblade, nothing has really changed. The same old stories of Vikings, ancient battles and lands, mystic features, and of course the glory of the ravens, all are back on display. However, as far as the music goes, Tummers lacks creativity this time around and his classic way of captivating the listener by his chanting, growly singing, and most importantly, his music. It is really a mystery how Tiurida couldn’t match other Falkenbach classics such a. agni Blandinn Ok Megintir. r his debut. n Their Medh Riki Far.The Folkman’s return should have been a wonderful event, yet it doesn’t prove itself at all in that direction.
This is what Falkenbach essentially do, and it's never been more evident than in his new album, Tiurida. After eight years of waiting for new material from the guy, a lot of people were absolutely pining for a new release. Instead we got a remake of an old album a few years after his last release, which was in 2003, which admittedly was excellent. This doesn't work in favour of Falkenbach though, because it shows that songwriting-wise, Falkenbach hasn't really got anywhere from day one. There's been nearly no progression since he first started releasing material
