The Rough Guide to African Disco is a world music compilation album originally released in 2013 featuring mainly 1970s and '80s African disco. Part of the World Music Network Rough Guides series, the album contains two discs: an overview of the genre on Disc One, and a "bonus" Disc Two highlighting Cameroonian artist Maloko. Disc One features five South African tracks, four Nigerian, two Ghanaian, and one each from Cameroon and France.

The title African Disco probably refers more to the discotheque, a club specifially for dancing, than the actual style of music known as disco. Not that there aren't similarities: funky bass, made for dancing, and so on, but this is African music first and foremost. All tracks date from the '70s, concurrent with the American and European disco scenes, but come from all over Africa, providing a range of styles. The highlight of the set comes from the best known artist: Tony Allen playing with Fela Kuli's band throws down on the nearly 12-minute-long "Afro-Disco-Beat

Special offers and product promotions. Compiled by DJ Adrian Gibson (Jazz cafe) these 10 tracks fuse disco with african poly-rhythms by mainly Nigerian artists. The best known track is afro-beat originator Tonny Allen's Afro-disco-beat and Ephraim Nzeka brings 2 interesting covers of Fela Kuti hits: Shakara and Zombie. The best tracks are the instrumental Asheo ara by Kabballa, the joyous Kaloule woman by Malinga Five and the familiar melody of .
