Ivan Drever is a Scottish folk singer, songwriter and guitarist. He often tours with fiddler Duncan Chisholm who founded the Celtic rock band Wolfstone which Drever joined in 1990 but left in later years. Drever has mixed traditional folk with some rock and roll sounds. Drever spent his childhood as one of ten children on Sanday, one of the islands of Orkney in Scotland.

The Ivan Drever Band is a folk-meets-rock band featuring Ivan Drever, Andy Murray, Finlay Wells and Iain Coates. They have released an EP with 5 songs: Every Beat of the Drum, Harbour Lights, Ballad of Jimmy Fry, Walk Beside Your Shoes and Stranger's Tongue. A full album, 'Sea Air', is to be released soon after their current tour. with Wayne Mackenzie. Drever Mackenzie (1991, re-released as a Wolfstone album "This Strange Place in 1992). with Struan Eagelsham.

Following this, Ivan Drever worked on a side-project involving some of Wolfstone's line-up, but primarily with bassist Wayne Mackenzie. The project, entitled "This Strange Place", resulted in a ten-track album recorded for Green Linnet records. Bassist Wayne Mackenzie said we could have just gone through the motions and made an attempt at an album. The band and our fans mean far too much to us to do that, the album contains a mix between songs and instrumentals and diverse subject matter.

It also introduced two new members, Wayne MacKenzie on bass, and Steve Saint on pipes. It made them into even more of a rock band, and producer Phil Cunningham let the guitars ring loud and distorted. The Half Tail, two years later, had a richer, slicker sound, with one utter standout piece, "Bonnie Ship the Diamond. However, that was far from the end of the story. Drever and Chisholm worked together, and 1998 and 1999 both brought new Wolfstone albums, This Strange Place and Seven (the first reportedly a contract-filler), following on from a best-of set. While the band has played occasional shows since, they've not gotten back together.
