Glad All Over is the debut studio album by the English rock band the Dave Clark Five.

The Dave Clark Five, often called the DC5, were an English rock and roll band formed in Tottenham in 1957. In January 1964 they had their first UK top ten single, "Glad All Over", which knocked the Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand" off the top of the UK Singles Chart. It peaked at No. 6 in the United States in April 1964. Although this was their only UK No. 1, they topped the US chart in December 1965, with their cover of Bobby Day's "Over And Over".

Friday, March 01, 2019. The Dave Clark Five - The Complete History. Formed 1958 // Tottenham, London, United Kingdom. Members: Dave Clark: Drums, Percussions, Vocals. Mike Smith: Lead Vocals, Piano, Organ. Denis Payton: Tenor-Baritone Saxes, Acoustic Guitar, Vocals. In the early years of the British Invasion, two bands vied for supremacy: the Beatles and the Dave Clark Five. Granted, the Fab Four from Liverpool out-charted the five lads from London, but almost no other band-not the Rolling Stones, Kinks or Animals-came close to the Dave Clark Five’s hit-making prowess from early 1964 to mid-1966. During that period, the DC5, as they were known in fan shorthand, placed fifteen consecutive singles in the . Top 40. It is one of the most impressive statistical feats of the British Invasion

The Dave Clark Five are one of the most important early rock bands. This Dave Clark Five discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Dave Clark Five albums can be found at the top of the list. To make it easy for you, we haven't included The Dave Clark Five singles, EPs, or compilations, so everything you see here should only be studio albums

The Dave Clark Five have long been given short shrift by history, consigned to the "Merseybeat" category. But hits like "Glad All Over," "Bits and Pieces," and the gorgeous "Because" still stand out as classy pop records. On the other hand, the DC5's cover of the Contours' "Do You Love Me" stands out as one of the more unbridled, edgy English singles of the sixties. The band actually had a winning way with both more rocking material and softer, poppier sides.

Liner notes: In 1963 a new name, a knock out song and a pop legend was born - The Dave Clark Five and 'Glad All Over'. This legend is still topping the charts all over the world and this LP contains 14 of Dave's biggest hits covering the period 1963 to 1968. Not only does Dave perform and produce his hit songs, but also writes most of them, a true phenomena in this mad pop world where one month an artist tops the charts and the next he is forgotten. Dave's success was also projected in the box-office smash film - 'Catch us if you can'; this alone is good enough reason for the inclusion of this title on this album.
The tracks in this collection represent over 14 million world sales and are a must for every Dave Clark fan or just anyone who appreciates good music. - Mort Langford
