Nefertiti is a studio album by American jazz musician Miles Davis, released in March 1968. Recorded on June 7, June 22–23 and July 19, 1967, at Columbia's 30th Street Studio, the album was Davis' last fully acoustic album. Davis himself did not contribute any compositions, which were mostly written by Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.

Nefertiti, the fourth album by Miles Davis' second classic quintet, continues the forward motion of Sorcerer, as the group settles into a low-key, exploratory groove, offering music with recognizable themes - but themes that were deliberately dissonant, slightly unsettling even as they burrowed their way into the consciousness. Perhaps Nefertiti's charms are a little more subtle than those of its predecessors, but that makes it intriguing. Besides, this album so clearly points the way to fusion, while remaining acoustic, that it may force listeners on either side of the fence into another direction.

The fourth album by Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet, Nefertiti, is best known for the unusual title track, on which the horn section repeats the melody numerous times without individual solos while the rhythm section improvises underneath, reversing the traditional role of a rhythm section3 C Michael Bailey of All About Jazz cited it as one of the quintet's six. albums between 1965 and 1968 that introduced the post-bop subgenre2. Shortly after this album, Hancock recorded a different version of "Riot" for his 1968 album Speak Like a Child In 1978, Shorter recorded a new.

In June and July, he returned to the studio with his quintet six times, continually fascinated by Wayne Shorter’s themes, which followed one another like a cortege of lofty divinities leaving their temple for a nocturnal procession.

Miles Davis’ second great quintet are at the height of their compositional powers on their fourth studio album, bringing a new level of sophistication to the playing throughout. Changes were ahead for the quickly evolving quintet-this 1968 effort would turn out to be Davis’ last acoustic-only album. Nefertiti Miles Davis.
