It was followed by Zappa's solo album Apostrophe (') (1974), which was recorded during the same sessions. Cool & Cocky Guys Night Out Road Trip. Love it or hate it, Over-Nite Sensation was a watershed album for Frank Zappa, the point where his post-'60s aesthetic was truly established; it became his second gold album, and most of these songs became staples of his live shows for years to come. Whereas the Flo and Eddie years were dominated by rambling, off-color comedy routines, Over-Nite Sensation tightened up the song structures and tucked sexual and social humor into melodic, technically accomplished heavy guitar rock with jazzy chord changes and funky rhythms; meanwhile, Zappa's growling new post-accident voice takes over.

Released September 7, 1973. Over-Nite Sensation Tracklist. 1. Camarillo Brillo Lyrics. One of Zappa’s most popular albums of the 70s (and indeed, of his entire career), Over-Nite Sensation featured one of Zappa’s most talented touring bands, as well as some of his most enduring concert staples, such as I’m the Slime, Dinah-Moe Humm and Montana. It has recurring themes of seediness and filth, as illustrated on the cover and implied, really, in the name of the album itself.
And for me, the album that hooked me to his delightful weirdness was 1973’s Over-Nite Sensation. It’s a bizarre mix of music that is by and large straightforward and experimental at the same time. Zappa truly was a colossal talent and is missed. And just like the music therein, the cover of Over-Nite Sensation is absolutely packed with fun details. Because there are so many of them, I’ve included an extra-large foldout version of the cover. So we’ve got an electric hand reaching into a painting of Frank Zappa’s dressing room for a cigarette
Frank Zappa - Over-Nite Sensation New And Sealed. Condition is New. Read full description. Class album classic Zappa. This is a fine example of Zappa's work in my opinion. Nothing toooo out there. Camarillo Brillo is a top opening track following nicely into I'm the slime with a top opening guitar following by a class 70's style funk sound and anti-establishment lyrics. It ticks all the right zappa boxes for me and is not too strange like 200 motels for example. Dinah Moe Humm is probably my favourite track on the album not something you would like to play to kids but it is a hilarious track.
