Steril (2) ‎– Misanthrop. Label: Frankahdafi Records ‎– FR001/14. After their stunning debut "Transmission Pervous", Steril alas embarked on the crossover bandwagon and tormented our ears for the rest of the horrible decade that was the 90s from an electronic perspective. After the initial fad had worn out, crossover (aka "cold wave") was of course recognised as the dead end of electronic music (a notorious reputation future pop and later aggrotechno has since tried to match).

These past sins unfortunately means that many a potential listener would shy away from the sheer mentioning of Steril (and the invoking of associated imagery, such as flame painted guitars and facial piercings), writing them off as a sell-out rock band. This album is however proper EBM, back to their roots and connecting with their debut; they have rediscovered the way they were supposed to sound. It's stompy, fast paced -yet heavy- and extrovertly aggressive, designed for the clubs. You probably won't even be able to make out the added guitar, which keeps mercifully to the background, perhaps adding some dirty grit; on whole, this album is rather similar to what E-Craft could have produced a couple of years ago. My favorite tracks are "Strom" and "Presse".
