Jesus condemns the religious officials who have been showing off their righteousness in public. Jesus says true righteousness belongs to those who are the lowest: those who mourn, those who are poor, those who are meek, even though they do not give the appearance of righteousness. For example, Jesus says in Matthew 6:5 Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. 2. Try praying in your room with the door shut

Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send yo. And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained. Now, why don't you go back to your church and ask why they lied to you.

The reason Jesus said to pray that the city would not be destroyed beginning on a Sabbath day is obvious to anyone but Sabbatarians! Jerusalem was a Jewish dominated town which kept 100% of the law of Moses up to 70AD. The Gates of the city would be closed on the Sabbath: Neh 13:15-22. This would hinder the Lord's instructions to the Christians to GET OUT OF THE CITY before the Roman armies destroyed the city as Jesus said in Luke 21:20. B. Jesus lists 3 things that would hinder fleeing the city: Mt 24:15-21. Pregnant or Nursing mothers hindered for obvious reasons.

In the Christian gospels, the ministry of Jesus begins with his baptism in the countryside of Roman Judea and Transjordan, near the river Jordan, and ends in Jerusalem, following the Last Supper with his disciples. The Gospel of Luke (Luke 3:23) states that Jesus was "about 30 years of age" at the start of his ministry. A chronology of Jesus typically has the date of the start of his ministry estimated at around AD 27–29 and the end in the range AD 30–36.

The previous verses have been discussing alms-giving, and Jesus argued that such giving should be in secret, and not be to pursue praise from others. This verse extends this argument to prayer, another of the cornerstones of Jewish piety. In that era there were public prayers at the temple, and private prayers to be said on one's own. There were also regularly scheduled times for prayer. Schweizer notes that when it was time to pray, one was instructed to seek out an inconspicuous corner, and prayers not at public events were to be quietly mumbled In this verse Jesus condemns as hypocrites those who make an ostentatious display of praying. As with Matthew 6:2 this verse states that for those who pray to be seen by others, their only reward will be the adulation of their peers.

As I am not English native speaker, I pray in my mother tongue, but people from all over the world travel for ages and it seems that our fears remain the same. What you can find below is a compilation of a few prayers I found online. simple, straight from the heart, easy to remember – I like them most). In the name of God I go on this journey

Jesus said, When these things begin to happen, watch out! They will arrest you and drag you into court for being My followers. They will beat you in their meeting places for preaching in My name. Jesus said, God lavishes divine happiness upon you when you decide to follow Me-no matter what the cost. He turns insults into smiles, pain into joy, lies into elation, and suffering into heavenly delight. Matthew 5:11 (Randy Reed Paraphrased Version).

Prayer is very powerful and important, and we are encouraged to pray without ceasing. Yet, if you're like the many Christians who don't know how you can do that, a life of sustained prayer can be a struggle. But did you know that we can actually pray without ceasing? The apostle Paul is probably one of the busiest people in his time – evident in the many accomplishments that he had – yet he was the one who encouraged believers to pray nonstop.
