The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (BBC SSO) is a Scottish broadcasting symphony orchestra based in Glasgow. One of five full-time orchestras maintained by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), it is the oldest full-time professional radio orchestra in Scotland. The orchestra is based at City Halls in Glasgow. The BBC opened its Edinburgh studio in 1930, and decided to form its own full-time Scottish orchestra to complement BBC orchestras already established in London, Manchester and Wales

The BBC National Orchestra of Wales (BBC NOW) (Welsh: Cerddorfa Genedlaethol Gymreig y BBC) is a Welsh symphony orchestra and one of the BBC's five professional radio orchestras. The BBC NOW is the only professional symphony orchestra organisation in Wales, occupying a dual role as both a broadcasting orchestra and national orchestra. The BBC NOW has its administrative base in Cardiff, at the BBC Hoddinott Hall on the site of the Wales Millennium Centre, since January 2009.
An American in Paris by Columbia Symphony Orchestra;Leonard Bernstein;New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Two years later, Ferde Grofe revised the work for symphony orchestra. To say that Rhapsody in Blue became a success is a gross understatement. More importantly over the years, it has served as one of the greatest crossover pieces ever written and has introduced millions to the outskirts of the classical realm. Remove the piano from Rhapsody in Blue, and you have the essence of An American in Paris, composed just a few years after the Rhapsody. Once again, Gershwin, a superb songwriter, gave a fabulous melody orchestral life. And once again, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Erich Kunzel perform as though the jazz idiom is their home turf. This album is a perfect way to begin a small collection of Gershwin works.
