Charles James Craig (3 December 1919 – 23 January 1997) was an English operatic tenor. He received early encouragement from Sir Thomas Beecham, and sang in his 1952 recording of A Mass of Life by Frederick Delius. He was known as one of "the most Italianate of English operatic tenors". From 1957 to 1980 he performed leading tenor roles at London's Royal Opera House and English National Opera.

Charles Craig Sings Puccini Arias and Favourite Ballads by Giacomo Puccini Audio CD £1. 7. Only 1 left in stock (more on the way). Forget the three tenors, Charles Craig is a forgotten talent. A light Carrera's like quality to his voice, he is still able to purvey every emotion possible. The Italian songs are a tour de force of emotions and are sung with consumate musicianship. I heartily recommend this CD to anyone who loves lyrical singing, without the forced style we have today.

Like most popular arias, one of the best versions is a live recording by the Three Tenors, Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo. Renée Fleming gives a stunning performance on her album The Art of Renée Fleming: Verdi - La donna è mobile. Or, ‘women are fickle’, if you translate it. That gives you an idea of the comical nature of the music here from Verdi’s opera Rigoletto. It’s a big hit for tenors and Juan Diego Florez gives it a particularly great rendition: Offenbach - Belle Nuit O Nuit d'Amour. This Barcarolle is sung as a duet in Les Contes D'Hoffman (The Tales of Hoffmann) – a rich, lush French opera by Offenbach. One of the best recent recordings of this piece is by the British soprano Natasha Marsh on her self-titled debut album: Latest features.
