Levon Vincent - Levon Vincent When Levon Vincent borrowed Marshall McLuhan's famous maxim "the medium is the message," he was using it to justify his commitment to vinyl. But his point-that the music you release is inseparable from the way in which you release it-has broader applications. Still, "Junkie. is the album's only weak moment. The others, while never delivering the thrills of "Six Figures" or "Solemn Days," slowly reveal a different kind of charm. By the time we get to "Black Arm W/ Wolf" and "Confetti," Vincent has perfected his new style: richly arranged, tuneful, sentimental but not quite saccharine. So much so that when he returns to more familiar sounds on the home stretch, it doesn't feel quite appropriate.

Six Figures is one of his finest tunes. It comes rather subtle, but once you're hooked on both the beautiful melody and the deep groovin' bass, you won't get this soulful tune out of your head. Levon Vincent is a producer and DJ based in Brooklyn. Levon Vincent - Levon Vincent. Always a tease, Levon Vincent chose to announce the release of his long-await debut album by drip-feeding information on social media. The subsequent meltdown among the online techno community may have been amusing to watch, but is testament to the Berlin-based New Yorker's impact over the last 10 years. Typically, concrete info has been thin on the ground - aside from the fact that it stretches across some four slabs of vinyl - and sound clips even thinner (aside from the hypnotic, yearning sweetness of 'Anti-Corporate Music', which Vincent gave away for free as a taster).

The Six Figures 12" was first released in 2009, when Levon Vincent was on the cusp of international recognition ("Double Jointed Sex Freak" and "Late Night Jam" were still to come). Here it gets a repress - a rare occurrence on Mr Vincent's Novel Sound imprint, but a welcome one - on oh-so collectable white vinyl. Those of you who missed out the first time round should wrap your ears immediately around the title track - a swampy ride through mid tempo house with mournful strings wringing out every last drop of emotion from the track.
While that’s not much to go on, the prospect of a full-length album from a key figure in New York’s house scene has us excited. Update: As spotted by Resident Advisor, Vincent has now revealed the album’s tracklist. It consists of 11 tracks across four vinyl records. No release date though
